1. Between the 10 largest US oil fields, there is a total of 10.8 BILLION barrels of oil in proven reserves! Yippie!
Oops. At 19 million barrels per day, that equals 568 days worth of consumption. Scary.
Overall, there are only 21 billion proven barrels of oil in the US – 1,105 days; 3 years worth. There are an estimated 134 billion of unproved reserves –a total of 19 years at present consumption. And all this unproved is oil that will be fantastically expensive – it’s the hard to get to, hard to refine shit.
Now, we import 2/3s of our daily needs. Thus we are only using 1/3 of our own stuff, meaning that each of those time frames is off by 2/3s. Phew.
But what if? What if the imports stopped coming, either in small part or in total? What if China and India and the oil exporting nations of the world themselves were using ever more? What if the exporting world decided to boycott the US? Gulp.

2. The most profitable hospitals in the US have a profit margin of between 30 and 54%! Good lord what a return on the dollar! How does such a return happen? Squeezing costs, primarily human staff on one hand, and squeezing insurance companies on the other. A pretty good racket. No wonder we won’t ever get real health care here. And not a good long term industry for Lexington, no matter who says it.
Meanwhile, we get sicker and poorer.
3. Speaking of healthcare. Forbes announces it’s list of the 15 best countries for business – and we’re number…9….
But perusing the list it seems to me that EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY ON THE LIST HAS SOCIALIZED MEDICINE……but us…..
1.Denmark 2.Hong Kong 3.New Zealand 4.Canada 5.Singapore 6.Ireland 7.Sweden 8.Norway 9.United States 10.United Kingdom 11.Finland 12.Australia 13.Netherlands 14.Belgium 15.Switzerland 16.Israel 17.Luxembourg 18.Iceland 19.Estonia 20.Germany
How do those guys at Forbes look at themselves with a straight face every morning? Especially after the new low they’ve hit with their opposition to Obama, below…..
4. Forbes has indeeed sunk to new lows. Yeah, I realize that I could say that every single time those money loving human haters publish anything. So here’s this week’s:
First we are treated to a nice high school yearbook photoshop of Obama and Lenin. Yeah, hard hitting!
Juvenile and desperate is more like it. This was from Steve Forbes’ own column.
Then we get the wonderful hit piece on Obama’s family “by a person of color so we know it cant be racist,” Dinesh D’Souza.
This is shallowness personified. Dinesh says that Obama’s dad was a drunk, African, philanderer who hated capitalists. Therefore the son is a bad person.
But poor Dinesh sounds more like a product of neo-colonial system – born in India of parents who opposed the system – who hates himself for selling out to the colonialists. I mean, who in this day and age can hate a child for the way he was born? Republicans, I guess.
Here’s my favorite passage from the article:
“It may seem incredible to suggest that the anticolonial ideology of Barack Obama Sr. is espoused by his son, the President of the United States. That is what I am saying. From a very young age and through his formative years, Obama learned to see America as a force for global domination and destruction. He came to view America’s military as an instrument of neocolonial occupation. He adopted his father’s position that capitalism and free markets are code words for economic plunder. Obama grew to perceive the rich as an oppressive class, a kind of neocolonial power within America. In his worldview, profits are a measure of how effectively you have ripped off the rest of society, and America’s power in the world is a measure of how selfishly it consumes the globe’s resources and how ruthlessly it bullies and dominates the rest of the planet.”
Geez, if only all that were true!
BARRY O: COME BACK TO THE DREAMS OF YOUR FATHER!
Read the filth here, if you can stand it.
